Notes: The crest is for the Bartholomew family and probably ordered by Robert Bartholomew (born 30th April 1802 baptised 2nd May 1802 died 6th February 1873), of Broomhill, Kirkintilloch in the County of Dunbartonshire and of St Anne's Lodge, Ascog, Isle of Bute A Cotton Merchant of Glasgow who was granted armorial bearings by the Lord Lyon King of Arms in 1869. Robert was second child of John Bartholomew, Merchant and his wife, Janet Orr. He married as his second wife on the 14th April 1852, Susan Jane Cunninghame Graham (who died prior to 1861 Census for Scotland). Susan was the eldest daughter of William Cunninghame Graham of Gartmore in the County of Perthshire and Ardoch in the County of Dunbartonshire. The Bartholomews were noted Cotton Merchants in the City of Glasgow. Bartholomew Street in the city was named after Robert's father, John. Robert also appears to have served as the third Provost of the Burgh of Calton, one of the suburbs of Glasgow between 1839 and 1843.
