A rare German 18k gold enamel and diamond horse bangle with rock crystal pedestal.
Laterally hinged crossover design with a sculpted horse's head and openwork textured relief decoration in the style of the mane. The upper face set with stripes of 104 8/8- and brilliant-cut diamonds (totalling ca. 1.56 ct, H/I, vs-si). The horse's head picked out in trompe l'oeil lapis lazuli enamel with fine gold powder inclusions, the eyes set with two small brilliant-cut diamonds. Brooch mount with safety clasp. Accompanied by a bizarrely formed plinth made of partially polished rock crystal with a gold mount. Hallmarks: Fineness 750, maker's mark "Kern", numbered "5335.1". Minor wear and repairs to the enamel of the mouth. Inner diameter 5 cm. Weight 113.86 g. Original leather case.
