A rare Überlingen silver gilt brandy bowl
Scalloped oval dish with scroll handles, decorated in the centre with finely chased repoussé fruit and acanthus. L 15.1; W without handles 12.3 cm, weight 112 g.
Marks of Johann Frantz Haitinger, circa 1680.
This brandy bowl is the only known secular work produced by Haitinger. Two communion chalices by this maker are housed in the Munster of Überlingen.
