A rare ebira (quiver) in the utsubo style
dating: 19th Century provenance: Japan, Made as wooden case, completely covered with brown lacquer (well preserved, only very small parts missing on the back and bottom). Upper part of elongated shape, ribbed in the center. The lower with opening provided with a cover held by antique, gilded lacing. Back with three, golden Kiri-mon. A leather band in the center, adorned with gilded spirals and provided with a transport rope. Ten arrows preserved inside, with ferrous metal tip, lacquered in black. Late Edo period. The well known Kiri mon (paulownia) was a symbol, among the others, of the powerful Matsudaira family. height 104 cm.
