A rare large garlic-mouth bronze ‘dragon’ vase
Qing dynasty, 17th century
of compressed globular form, rising from a splayed foot to a slender columnar neck with a lobed 'garlic head' and lipped rim, a sinuous archaistic dragon cast in openwork coiled around the shoulder and neck, the bronze richly patinated to a deep brown colour with some areas oxidized to cuprite and malachite tones

Condition Report:
The vase is in overall good condition, with expected light wear and dents to the edges. There are some traces of cuprite and malachite oxidization to the surface. The vase was mounted as a lamp, a ca. diam 9 mm drilled hole to the bottom. Scattered scratches to the inner rim.
