A rare quattrocento portrait of a Saint (Mark), tempera on gold ground wood, 27 x 33 cm
Tempera (and oil?) with the punch work technique, on a gold ground poplar panel with cradling.
In the manner of the Sienese School.
Condition: - cradled panel
- shortened (in the height)
- the back of the panel with traces of woodworm
- quite some wear to the gold background, with various overpaint (mostly to the left side)
- some touch-ups to the face and clothing, but overall in fair and original condition.
