A rare silver gold granule and translucent enamel Arts and Crafts sautoir necklace set with opals, garnets and spinels in the manner of Dorrie Nossiter, ca. 1925.

Necklace made of elongated cord wire eyelets, alternating with spindle- and droplet-shaped links and a large three-part bombé-form relief pendant. Of foliate design with gold granulation decor, set with six moulded crystal opals in closed settings. The pendant picked out with translucent enamel in shades of green, set with eight garnets and three spinels in a cushion-shaped antique cut. Not hallmarked. Severe wear to the enamel. Chain L 70 cm. Pendant total 9 cm. Weight 87.30 g.

The Arts & Crafts movement in England emerged as a reaction to industrialisation and called for the revival of guilds and traditional craftsmanship and thus for a return to handmade unique pieces instead of mass-produced jewellery.
