A rectangular oak casket of robust construction, the hinged lid and sides decorated with extensive wrought iron strapwork, corner mounts and applied ornamental fittings in the Medieval taste, the lid centred by a large iron carrying handle, flanked by shaped iron mounts with scrolling and foliate terminals, within a border of scalloped strapwork secured by domed rivets. The front fitted with a shaped lock plate and further iron strengthening straps, raised on short bracket feet, 19th century or earlier, 11.5cm high, 27.5 x 18cm,
