A rectangular silver snuff box with gilt interior, engine turned decoration with rose gold band to the lid, and ornate cast thumb piece, Edinburgh 2002, with Golden Jubilee hallmark, by Peter John Doherty, the base marked 'JJG' (J J Gallagher Ltd), 6.4cm x 4.4cm x 1.4cm, 2.73ozt, 84.8g in presentation case.
Gallagher Developments//JJ Gallagher Ltd commissioned silver items as presents for clients. Doherty specialised in commissions and corporate gifts with a particular specialism in boxes, using traditional methods executed to the highest standards. His clients included the Crown jewellers, The Royal family, Asprey and Garrard, Hamilton and Inches, government members and he was also commissioned to make presentation boxes for the Ryder Cup and Royal Ascot.
