A red walnut and oak gateleg dining table, late 17th/ early 18th century, the oval hinged twin flap top above the turned and square section gateleg action, 75.5cm high, 133cm wide (when open), 107cm deep

Mahogany and other imported exotic woods were in use in parts of America including Philadelphia by the turn of the 18th century, however, the extravagant cost of mahogany prohibited its widespread usage during this era.
