A reservist mug of sailor Kutsche, Sailor Artillery Kiautschou, 1911 - 1914Half-litre mug of glass with pewter mounts, slightly tapered form, faceted, coloured décor, imprinted and hand-painted with Chinese shoreline landscape at dusk, in the foreground a German soldier of the protection troop and a sailor as well as three natives, in the background three battleships, several Chinese boats and a small lighthouse. Surmounted by two crossed flags with crown and inscription (tr.) "In memory of my time of service in China /S.A.K. / Res. Kutsche". On the back near the handle two long name bars. Pewter lid with subtle leaf frieze, the thumb piece in the shape of a lion mask. Minimal chips at the top edge, traces of use and age. Height 23 cm. Extremely rare and beautifully preserved mug of the German protection troop.Condition: II +
