A roman deep red carnelian intaglio. Head of Ganymede. The young face, in profile to the left, is framed by thick hair, partially covered by a phrygian cap (laureate in this case). Anyway, the absence of the neck could also suggest the fact that we are dealing with a mask. Fine work, especially considering the very small size of the stone. Convex bezel surface. 1st century B.C.
6 x 6,5 x 2 mm.
