A round Buddhist votive bronze mirror (kyôzô). Late19th century

To the front an incised bodhisattva with a lotus flower seated in meditation on a lotus throne, on the reverse a long engraved inscription with the apocryphal date Ninji 3 (1243). Suspension loops in shape of rinbô. Old accession number C 326 in black ink.

Collection Franz Xaver Bachem (1857-1936), Cologne, collector's number 292 in white ink and a few remarks Literature

Cf: Bachem 1933, p. 66. Here Bachem cites Adolf Fischer from his essay "Fälscherwesen in Japan und China" (Orientalisches Archiv, vol. III, 1912/1913, p. 28-29), in which Fischer writes about the forgeries of kakebutsu.
