A round Meissen porcelain tureen with birds beneath arbours
Form based on a Sèvres design. Decorated on either side with Continental birds beneath floral arbours. The edges and the rocaille supports picked out in blue, the branch form handles entwined by gold outlined blue ribbons. Smoothed base with faint blue crossed swords mark. H 24, W 29 cm.
Around 1760 - 63.
It can be assumed that this tureen was created at the same time as the dinner service for the Prussian minister Wilhelm Finck von Finckenstein. However, the Dulong model, painted with Continental birds, was chosen for this service.
