A scarce pre-war Hornby 'Flash' clockwork Racing Runabout, manufactured by Meccano Ltd., Liverpool, circa 1939–40, of pressed and painted tinplate construction, the compact streamlined hull finished in blue with an ivory/cream deck, the starboard bow retaining its original 'FLASH' name transfer in gilt lettering outlined in black. The stern deck bears the original oval 'Manufactured in England – Hornby – Meccano Ltd. Liverpool' transfer, the deck incorporates a blue-painted recessed cockpit or motor-cover surround with central winding spindle, together with simple pressed and applied deck fittings. Beneath the hull are the original propeller shaft and three-bladed propeller, with adjustable stern rudder, approximately 250 mm long × 80 mm wide overall
