A scratch built scale model of the clipper ship SWORDFISH built circa 1955, she was an 1852 clipper ship that has been called William H. Webb Shipbuilder's masterpiece, she is known for her owner's the enjoyable record of 90 days from New York to San Francisco via Cape Horn. In elapsed time, this passage was eclipsed only once by Donald MacKay's famous extreme clipper FLYING CLOUD, which set the world record of 89 days. SWORDFISH engaged also in the China tea trade and made many passages to Canton. One one voyage home, her run from the "line" to New York still remains unsurpassed in sail. After noteworthy service for some 13 years, her days ended on the Yangtze river. She was destroyed in 1864.
