A set of four late Victorian silver dishes, each with crimped rim and in the form of a suit of cards comprising diamond, heart, spade and trefoil (club) shapes, in original fitted case. Hallmarked James Dixon & Sons Ltd., Sheffield 1897. Length of diamond dish 4.5 (11.3cm), total silver weight 4.4 ozt (136.8 grams). Dimensions: Condition Report: All dishes appear in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general expected surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some heavier contact wear around the edges of each base. Signs of a possible repair to the heart dish, located in one of the curved sections at the meeting of the flat base with the raised side. A few small splits to crimped rims with a larger split visible to the spade dish. Hallmarks rubbed in places but mostly legible. Case with expected general wear and the clasp is not working properly so it does not close securely. Otherwise overall condition good.
