A set of six Chinese famille rose export 'butterfly' plates, 18th century, each enamelled to the centre with a butterfly above blossoming flowers, the rim with iron red and famille rose festoons, comprising five small plates, 23cm diam., and one larger, 26cm diam. (6) 十八世紀 粉彩蝶紋瓷盤 一組六件
Some expected rubbing and flaking to enamels and firing imperfections (including an approx3mm wide glazed indentation that looks like a rim nibble but is actually just a firing flaw). Two plates with hairlines, the longest approx. 5cm long, the shorter with 5mm rim chip to the exterior. Approx. 8mm shallow chip to edge of rim to another plate. A few scattered tiny nibbles.
