Of circular form, with all-over enamelled pattern, the lid set with a naval crown, engraved to the inside rim: 'Gieves Ltd, 21 Old Bond Street', a prominent military and naval outfitter, gilt interior stamped 925, and hallmarked with a London import mark, 1927; diameter 4.5cm, weight 30.3g. Together with a silver lid, stamped with a crest and Latin motto 'Nil Desperandum', marked with a lion passant; weight 0.82ozt.
Enamel being worn off in two locations to the back and right-hand side of the pill box.
