A silver mounted English or French smallsword, ca. 1780/90Slender, deeply fullered thrusting blade of triangular section. Pitted in places, the head defective. Fine decorative etching at the root with traces of gilding and maker's monogram "A.K.". Silver guard with traces of gilding. Finely openworked oval guard plate with cut diamond decoration. The remaining vessel parts with elaborate raised diamond boss decoration soldered onto a chiselled ground. Length 98 cm.Condition: II -
