A silver mounted ivory tankard
Raised base decorated with shellwork and auricular designs supporting a vessel of oval section with an ivory cuff carved with a depiction of a cavalry battle, presumably Alexander the Great meeting the troops of Darius III at Issos. With an angular scroll handle and an acanthus clasped cone finial. H 19.8 cm.
Presumably Olmütz, mid-17th C.
