A small Mannerist inlaid cabinet
Various, partly coloured, engraved and fire-shaded fruitwoods, elm and maple veneers on oak and softwood corpus, later finely wrought and engraved iron lock and latch bolt. The drop front with two panels inlaid with perching bird motifs, the side faces with geometrical frames above. The inside of the drop front with flowering tendrils. Containing eight drawers with moulded edges in four rows. The central drawer with secret compartment. The fronts of the drawers inlaid with architectural motifs. The entire surface painted over with reddish brown stain. Some veneers loose, shrinkage cracks, minor losses. The carrying handle on the top of the lid missing. H 24, W 30, D 21 cm.
