A small Meissen porcelain model of a Quaker woman from the 'cris de Londres'

She stands on a gilded rocaille base with clasped hands, wearing a yellow bodice and purple apron over a seafoam green skirt. Blue crossed swords mark on the back of the plinth, unglazed base. H 10.4 cm.
Model by Johann Joachim Kaendler and Peter Reinicke, 1754.

This figure is based on John Savage's engraving "The London Quaker" after Marcellus Laroon II from the series "The Cryes of the City of London", first published by Pierce Tempest in 1688. Meissen produced a series of 16 figures inspired by Marcellus Laroon II under the title "cris des Londres", all of which were modelled by Johann Joachim Kaendler and Peter Reinicke.
