A small blue and white jar
Kangxi period, ca. 1700, China
A small jar of ovoid form and decorated with a lady behind her desk (with a blank piece of paper in front of her) as she is about to dab her brush into the ink. She is attended by two servants. The lid is not original to the piece but a replacement. Marked with a six character apocryphal Chenghua mark in underglaze blue.
H 15 cm
Two tiny short hairlines in the top rim and the unglazed footrim with some bruising. Also on the isnide some discoloured hairlines visible but these don't go through to the outside. The lid with two hairlines and an associated chip. No other damage and no restoration.
