A small sword for cuirassier officers, circa 1900
Sturdy, straight single-edged blade (bright, tip stained), featuring a (partially obscured) skull stamp at the ricasso on the obverse side, identifying the maker Küll, Solingen. Non-ferrous metal guard with a heart-shaped shell and well-preserved fire-gilt finish; bulbous grip with silver wire wrapping; noble coat of arms engraved on the pommel beneath an open crown. Black leather scabbard (showing craquelure and shrinkage) with gilt non-ferrous metal fittings. Attached silver sword knot interwoven with black thread. Signs of use and age. Length 96 cm.
