A split pearl, sapphire, ruby and diamond, butterfly brooch, c.1900,
with graduated split pearls, forming the abdomen and thorax. The wing tips grain set with sets of three oval mixed cut sapphires and a pair of old Swiss cut rubies, with rose cut diamonds throughout. All set in silver and faced with gold to the wing tips. Backed in gold with a curved pin and 'C' catch, with a detachable brooch fitting. Tested as sterling silver and approximately 9ct gold. 35 x 26mm, 9.47g
