A stylised view of the Golden Horn, Ottoman Turkey, dated 1293AH/1876-77AD, gouache and ink on paper, the two sides of the waterway filled with a series of domed buildings and stylised minaret towers, the waterway with large numbers of wooden sail boats and smaller steamboats most of which are flying the Ottoman flag, the lower margin with an identifying inscription in naskh and dated 1293, minor areas of water damage and small tears to the outer margins, 54.6 x 73cm. Provenance: Christie's, London, 10 April 2014, lot 218 The ships in this painting are identified as the Süleymaniye, Saidi, al-Aziziye and al-Mahmudiye.
