A substantial bronze, cast iron and glazed hall lantern in the manner of a Farola Fernandina
A substantial bronze, cast iron and glazed hall lantern in the manner of a Farola Fernandina, last quarter 19th century, probably previously fitted for gas, of tapered cylindrical form, the pierced and domed circular canopy above scrolled and acanthus cast cresting and an openwork gallery, the body inset with bowed panes, descending to a fircone terminal, 113cm high, 54cm diameter
Provenance: Property from a Private Collection
Condition Report:
The lantern is presented in sections, and not assembled as in the photograph. The glass panes are all present and intact. The lantern bears minor marks, knocks and scuffs overall consistent with age and use, and would benefit from a clean. Two or three of the individually cast palmettes and other elements of cresting have some movement, though they are stable and firmly attached. The top is variously pierced to the interior. The lantern was probably refitted at one point however no wiring is currently present.
