A uniform ensemble for a 1st lieutenant of the Imperial
Fine bicorn of black mohair felt with clasp of gold and silver bullions, gold anchor button and black rep cockade, the points of the hat with gold cordons, white silk lining (with Japanese lettering embroidered in red). Comes with two well-preserved, gold parade epaulettes with applied anchor and rank stars, lined with dark blue velvet. Both in the original storage case covered with canvas. A separate case contains an elegant double-breasted uniform tunic of dark blue wool cloth with gold anchor buttons, gold braided sleeves in the rank of 1st lieutenant, elaborately embroidered collar and white silk lining with label "Yamashiroya Co. Ltd.". Comes with matching trousers of dark blue wool cloth with gold lateral stripes, white cloth gloves, the sabre hanger with gilt buckle, the officer’s sabre with narrow, nickel-plated single-edged blade, gilt knuckle-bow hilt, white grip of synthetic material (shark skin pattern) and leather scabbard (overall length approx. 78 cm). Furthermore, a sheet printed in Japanese script with information about the wearer. Slightly damaged in parts, traces of age. Rare, beautifully preserved ensemble of the former navy officer Maeda Minoru.
