Chinese porcelain Yellow glaze: Low-temperature yellow glaze porcelain was created in the official kiln of Jingdezhen during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty. “Yellow” and “huang” are homophonic, so yellow is used to symbolize the nobility of the royal family, and yellow porcelain is also limited to imperial use.
Yellow-glazed porcelain is fired twice, that is, first high-temperature firing of astringent or plain white porcelain, then yellow glaze, and then baking at 850-900°C in the kiln. Since yellow-glazed porcelain is often glazed by the method of pouring glaze, it is called “pouring yellow”. Looking at the yellow-glazed porcelain in history, the products of the Hongzhi dynasty of the Ming Dynasty are the most commended, and they are regarded as a model of yellow-glazed porcelain. The glaze is smooth and the glaze is light and delicate. Judging from the many Hongzhi yellow-glazed porcelains collected in the Palace Museum, there is almost no difference in color, which shows the skill of yellow-glazed porcelain firing at that time.

Spittoons: also known as “dregs bucket”, “spit pot”, “saliva”, it was a container used to hold spits or remains from the food like fish bones during banquets of ancient nobles. Porcelain spittoons began in the Eastern Han Dynasty, and it was quite popular in the Three Kingdoms, Jin Dynasty and later Ming Dynasty.

黄釉:低温黄釉瓷器创烧于明洪武时的景德镇官窑,以后各朝多有烧造。以“黄”与“皇”谐音,故以黄色象征皇家的尊贵,黄色瓷器亦只限于御用。黄釉瓷器均采用两次烧成,即先高温烧成涩胎或素白瓷,然后施黄釉,再入窑经850-900℃烘烧而成。由于黄釉瓷器常以浇釉法施釉,故有“浇黄”之称。对于颜色娇嫩如鸡油者,人们又称之为“娇黄”或“鸡油黄”。统观历史上的黄釉瓷器,以明弘治朝之产品最受称道,被视为黄釉瓷器的典范。其釉面光洁,釉色浅淡娇嫩。从故宫博物院收藏的诸多弘治黄釉瓷器来看,其呈色几无差异,表明当时黄釉瓷器烧造技术之娴熟。
唾盂:又称“渣斗”、“唾壶”、“唾器”,为古代贵族宴饮时用来盛放兽骨和鱼骨的容器。瓷质渣斗始自东汉,三国、两晋以及后来的明代都颇为流行。
