A very large Sukhothai bronze head of a Buddha. 14th/15th century
A very large Sukhothai bronze head of a Buddha, the eyes lowered in meditation with a slender nose and elegantly shaped lips, the head and ushnisha covered by snail-like curls, surmounted by a ketumala. The bronze with remains of gilding, the curls and ketumala covered with gilded reddish-brown lacquer, the eyes of mother-of-pearl. 14th century. Mounted on a marble stand.
