Description
A very rare Chinese iron, forged cannon from the Ming Dynasty from the 17th century. East Asia, China, late Ming - early Qing dynasty, c. 17th century AD. The iron cannon has a narrow breech barrel with a flared muzzle and twenty four forged ringed. Near the base is a powder shelf that is ignited by a fuse, igniting the compacted powder inside. The rare shape of the barrel suggests that it fired buckshot and was possibly used on a ship. Weight 8 kg. A very rare, collectible example of a Chinese cannon.
