Engraved from a drawing by Elias Dunford.The scene represents a market square with fountain, British soldiers in drill formation and Franciscan monks during the occupation of Havana by english troops in 1762-63. Elias Durnford was a member of the Royal Engineers and was sent to Cuba during the Seven Years War. Afterward, in London, he created a series of 6 engravings which depict the city of Havana and are considered to be some of the earliest representations from life of the island of Cuba.Nowadays are considered very rare.
