A well-carved Chinese tropical wooden sculpture of Guanyin seated on the back of a Buddhist lion with bone teeth, all eyes glass-inlaid, ca 1900-1920, ca 20 cm. high, 16 cm. long and 7. 5 cm. wide.
The Chinese 'bodhisattva' seated in 'lilasana', wearing a long pleated robe with a hood over her partly pinned up hair, her face with serene expression, the raised left hand in 'jnanamudra' holding a grain of rice, the lowered left hand holding a scroll, the walking 'foo' dog with backwards turned neck and raised head, his right front leg with age fracture, the base with chip (images #17-18) .
