A well-engineered live steam model of a 3 ½ inch gauge 4-6-0 Hunslet Side Tank locomotive, built by Mr W E Wilks of Bournton with brazed copper boiler having fittings including water sight glass, pressure gauge, safety, blower, whistle, clack valve and blow down plug. Chassis details include twin outside cylinders, drain cocks, whistle, brake controls and lever forward and reverse. Walschaert's valve gear, polished motion, sprung suspension, displacement lubricator, hand operated water feed pump in side tank, bypass, couplings, steps and hand rails. The locomotive is finished in black livery with polished brightwork, detailed rivet-work and brass framed cab porthole windows. Length 56cm. Cab width 17cm.
The original full size locomotives were used by the military to transport troupes and equipment to the front lines.
Boiler History: Western Steam Boiler No. WSME 471.05.07 Hydraulic test 160 psi. Steam pressure 80 psi. Southern Federation of Model Engineering Societies Boiler test record. Hydraulic test expired the 16th of November 2011. Steam test expired 17th of January 2009. 80 psi. Signed by Mr F T Waterfield.
