A wheellock rifle, Georg Scholz, Brno, CZ, dated 1604

Sturdy, octagonal barrel with eight-groove rifled bore in 13 mm calibre with dovetailed brass front sight, double folding iron rear sight and copper mark on the upper side. At the breech stamped signature "GEORG SCHOLZ BRIN". Wheellock with engraved ornaments and figures, internal wheel, double set trigger and recessed square spanner on the left. The openwork wheel cover dated 1604 and signed "DAVIE SCHUBARDT". Lightly carved fruitwood full stock with patch box and engraved, blackened bone inlays. Wooden ramrod with engraved bone tip, iron trigger guard. Some inlays (presumably) of later date, two small replacements on the stock. Length 103.5 cm.
Unusual wheellock rifle to be cocked on the left.
