A wheellock rifle, Thuringia or Saxony, dated 1680
Octagonal barrel slightly indented in the middle with eight-groove rifled bore in 15 mm calibre. Dovetailed sights of brass and iron. The upper side of the barrel fullered at the breech, brass-lined barrel maker’s mark "HIB" with bird struck three times. Lock with uninterpreted master’s mark "HH" and struck date "1680". The finely engraved wheel housing and applied decorative element of brass with remnants of gilding. Spring-loaded pan with release lever. Adjustable set trigger. Walnut full stock, the slightly wavy forestock with iron nose. The grip with finely studded décor, on the butt rich decorative inlays of iron wire. Patch box with sliding lid, enclosed iron multi-function tool with wheellock key. The butt with old shrinkage crack on the left. Wooden ramrod with bone tip (broken). Length 124 cm.
