A wheellock rifle with rich bone veneer, Simon
Octagonal barrel slightly indented in the middle, with seven-groove rifled bore in 16 mm calibre. Dovetailed iron sights. At the breech framed signature "S. Penzeneter in Wienn" inlaid in gold with gold-lined mark. The barrel base engraved with flower ornaments. Lock with internal wheel. Lock plate finely engraved with hunting scene. Adjustable set trigger. Walnut full stock profusely decorated with inlays of engraved bone, partly in flat relief. Numerous depictions of game, on the cheek piece a huntsman with lance and dogs hunting a bear. On the side plate depiction of two huntsmen weighing a bagged deer. Patch box with sliding lid of engraved bone. Behind the tang engraved stock maker’s monogram "IS". Original wooden ramrod with engraved bone tip and threaded sleeve of iron. Length 109.5 cm.
