wonderful Egyptian wooden headrest, New Kingdom, c. 1570 - 1075 BC, comprised of three interlocking pieces, each well-fitted, the central column recessed with resin indicating there was an inlay or fitting in another substance. 7 3/4 x 9 3/4 in (19.7 x 24.8 cm). Well-preserved with nice deep brown patination; old collection label on base. Ex collection of Xavier Sallet, France; Ex Pierre Berge, Drouot, Paris, December 2007; Ex Drouot-Montaigne, April 2001; Ex Garcin collection, Marseille, acquired in the 1960's.
