SHAW, GEORGE BERNARD

Autograph letter signed with envelope to Henry Losti Russell Jr. Venice: 30th May, 1929. Ten lines, plus address, salutations and felicitations. Paper toned, usual folds. Framed with a portrait.

Shaw sent the present rather testy letter from Venice to a representative of the United Associations of America at their London offices. It may relate to an interview/questionnaire in which Russell was involved sold in these rooms in 2018 that was dated April 12, 1929. Shaw writes here "The interview you have sent me is quite out of the question. I object to it because it would bring upon me a million or so letters from persons in a hurry to exploit the virtues it attributes to me, and nobody would believe that it was not an advertisement to which I was a party. from Miss Patch's point of view it would appear as a professional misdemeanor on the part of a lady in a highly confidential position of trust. its publication would, in fact, lead inevitably to her dismissal..."
