Seated, turning to the left as it licks its fore haunch, its right foreleg raised and its tail sweeping forward over the back, the slightly worn wood with a good patina and the pupils inlaid.
A very similar example, facing in the opposite direction, is illustrated in Atchley and Davey, VAC, p.32, no.N10 and in Hurtig, MNA, no.44.
