AC - 2.0 ltr Coupé - 1948

[ translate ]

This very special AC is from 1948. History begins with the collaboration between two English pioneers, butcher John Portwine and designer John Weller who started their first project in 1902. In 1907 they developed a simple tricycle, which could not only be used as a 'sociable', but also as a delivery vehicle. The abbreviation AC was born. In 1929, AC Cars was acquired by William Hurlock Jr. His family remained associated with the AC brand until the 1980s. His main achievement was to take the brand to the next level, between Jaguar and Alvis. AC continued to build traditional cars until 1953. The first early versions were equipped with their own AC engines. Later, engines were used from brands such as Bristol. This AC offered here has the 2. 0L 6-cylinder AC engine with 3 double carburettors. This model was built from 1947 to 1956. The AC was built entirely of aluminium because immediately after the war, steel had become very scarce. The hubcaps, door hinges and front was made of bronze / brass. This of course has a weight advantage, it makes the car with a 6-cylinder engine quite snappy. This car was completely restored 10 years ago and is in good condition. The engine runs smoothly and the car shifts well. The interior is very neat and has supple leather. The interior has many beautiful details and forms a nice portrait of an era. This is a really special car that is not often seen in this condition. Beautiful collectible or investment. Only 1,284 units were manufactured of this model. You can view the car on the ramp in Valkenswaard, the Netherlands, if you’re interested. Please do this before you bid. The car is exempt from Dutch road tax and Dutch periodic inspections. Export documents will be supplied for export to other countries. We can arrange transport by arrangement.
