ADAMS PAT. MKIII DOUBLE ACTION ENGLISH REVOLVER

SERIAL 11516. BARREL 5 3/4". CALIBER .450. Fine London made six shot double action that features a full octagon barrel, six shot, non-fluted cylinder with checkered walnut grips and lanyard ring. Indexes both single and double action. Rifling is sharp and clean. Finish is soft brown patina and grips are excellent. The MkIII Introduced in 1878 and was the British Army’s side arm until 1880 when it was replaced by the Enfield. It saw service during the Anglo-Zulu war of 1879, Second Anglo–Afghan War and the first Boer War. The pistols stopping power and double action were very appealing attributes and the MkIII was extremely popular with British Officers on colonial duty where stopping power and rapid rate of fire was the difference between life and death during close quarters fighting with natives.
