Title: ADVENTURES INTO WEIRD WORLDS Nos. 8 and 14 * Lot of Two Comics
Place Published:
Publisher:Atlas [Indicia: Animirth Comics, Inc.]
Date Published: 1952-1953
Description:

#8: Fair (1.0). Spine roll, cover detached, spine halfway split, chips tears, creases, a few tiny chips to edges. Cream to off-white pages. GPAnalysis: Lowest-graded copy is a 5.0 that sold for $140 in July 2018.

#14: VG- (3.5). Spine roll, staple rust, light creasing and edgewear, back cover toned at spine and edges, red coloring on front cover blurb-box and blurb-balloon faded. Cream pages with light tan edges. Not a bad copy; clean and press to 4.5? Cover: Carl Burgos. Two Stan Lee scripts. Art: Carmine Infantino, Larry Woromay, John Tartaglione, Jay Scott Pike, Sol Brodsky. GPAnalysis: Only two results in any grade, none directly comparable. Heritage sold an unslabbed 3.5 for $84 in June 2021.

#8: Malfunctioning good-luck charm causes the end of the world; woman brands boyfriend on forehead with her name after he says "sticks and stones may break my bones, but names can never hurt me" ("Yes they can, Paul! This is one name that will hurt you!"). This yarn may have inspired Feldstein, Williamson and Frazetta's face-branding tale "Fired!", published a year later in Crime SuspenStories #17.

#14: Hobo killed by hideous harpy; crook walks on water, drowns on dry land; ad offers sexy postage stamps from Togoland to lonesome readers: "Interesting scene of tribal native women pounding grain."

A deluxe limited edition of 12 hardcover catalogues is available, in addition to a small number of softcovers. 400 lots, fully illustrated. Fun reference, great keepsake. Softcover $40, deluxe hardcover with dust jacket and limitation plate $200. Eight of the 12 hardcovers are pre-ordered and the rest will go quickly, so reserve yours now.
