In the post-war years, many companies, contributed to the mass “motorization” of society, among them a significant name was Aermacchi, the famous aircraft builder. In the mid-1950s it began producing a 175 cc motorcycle called “Chimera”: its engine, with its horizontally positioned cylinder, had all the attributes to turn in much more brilliant performances. Its evolution led to the design of far higher-performing motorcycles, which were named, in deference to their aeronautical origins, Ala azzurra, Ala bianca, Ala verde and Ala d'oro, the racing version. It did itself proud on the racetrack, winning numerous national races with independent riders and it also won at international level thanks to riders as Alberto Pagani, Gilberto Milani and Renzo Pasolini. The motorcycle offered for sale is a totally original 1968 model, perfectly conserved, with certification of originality and ASI historical certification (No. 015377). One of the 1970s riders’s most appreciated GP bikes, extremely reliable, perfectly running and highly performing.
