The present miniature is similar to Andrew Plimer's portrait of Hon. Anne Rushout exhibited at the 'Art Gallery of Ontario' also the artist's tracing of Mrs S Bowles, dated 1810. However, the extraordinary size, 4 1/2 in in height, was not typical of Plimer's work and the present example may have been inspired by these portraits and painted by a later hand.
