Etching and engraving, 1561, a fine impression of this rare print, New Hollstein's only state, printing with rich contrasts and clarity, by Joannes and Lucas van Doetecum, published by Hieronymus Cock, on paper with a Letters in a Shield watermark (cf. Briquet 9838), unframed
sheet: 332 by 427mm 13⅛ by 16¾in
Condition Report:
Trimmed to the borderline, in generally good condition, with an inconspicuous, skilfully repaired diagonal tear (measuring approx. 17cm) extending from lower sheet edge (only visible upon close inspection), an unobtrusive repair at the lower left corner, the surface rubbed in places, all discreetly touched in with pen and ink, two tiny ink stains above the Saint's head, unframed.
(The drying fold is inherent to production).
