The complete set, comprising four engravings by Adriaen Collaert, circa 1589, the Title Plate a fine impression of the first state (of three), Christopher Columbus on His Ship and Amerigo Vespucci on His Ship very good impressions of the second states (of three), and Ferdinand Magellan on His Ship a very good impression of the first state (of two), on paper with Double Headed Eagle watermarks, each unframed
smallest sheet (Christopher Columbus): 207 by 274mm 8⅛ by 10¾in
largest sheet (Title Plate): 212 by 281mm 8⅜ by 11⅛in

Condition Report:
The title plate with thread margins, otherwise trimmed on or just inside the plate mark, in good condition apart from minor surface soiling and discoloration, each unframed. Imperfections to individual sheets include:

Title plate: Two tiny brown accretions below the upper border at left
Plate 2: Minor thinning at the upper left corner
Plate 3: Minor and unobtrusive repairs at upper corners with associated touches of pen and ink at upper left
Plate 4: Repaired split at lower right extending approx. 3.5cm into the bow of the rightmost figure, a minor and unobtrusive repair at upper right and a nick at lower right
