Al Hirschfeld signed artist proof lithograph marked, "PP 2/3," of The Beatles dressed in their Sgt. Pepper costumes. The concept for the album art of Sgt. Pepper's Lonley Hearts Club Band was generated by Paul McCartney and became a collaboration between artists Michael Cooper, Peter Blake and his wife and The Beatles. The result was the much recognized Sgt. Pepper esthetic that is captured here by Al Hirschfeld. Hirschfeld, the much lauded caricaturist, drew the Beatles as a group three times in his career.
