ALBERT ENGSTROM. THIRTEEN DRAWINGS THAT HE MADE WHEN HE WAS IN SEVENTH GRADE AT THE NORRKÖPING HIGHER GENERAL TEACHING WORKS.
Description
Engström, Albert, Swedish artist and writer, (1869-1940). Thirteen (13) youth drawings by Albert Engström on sheets from writing books from his youth period. The drawings came about when Albert Engström helped a schoolmate with his homework in German, according to an accompanying letter by schoolmate Carl W. Nordlöf. In the letter he tells us that he and Albert Engström were in the seventh lower grade at Norrköping's Högre Allmänna Läroverk in 1887. The drawings were made by Engström while working on the homework in German. They are executed in pencil on lined paper measuring 10.5 cm. x 14. 5 cm or vice versa. The fact that he drew was not so remarkable, since “Albert Engström was already considered stylish in drawing among the boys at that time, in any case, the one who drew best in school...”
Carl G. Nordlöf's letter he wrote on the eve of Albert Engström's 60th birthday in which he offers the cartoons to Svenska Dagbladet. Whether they were published is not clear.Show more
Condition
A drawing a little clipped in the outer margins, otherwise quite good condition.
